Hiram College was recently selected as a winner in the 24th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards. The institution earned a Silver Award for its rising-student direct mail advertising piece.
The Admissions Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, more than 2,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries.
Gold awards were granted to 239 schools and silver awards were awarded to 210 schools.
Judges for the Admissions Advertising Awards consisted of a national panel of admissions’ marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Admissions Marketing Report.
“We set out to produce a top-quality publication that would convey the special qualities of Hiram College and its liberal arts foundation to high school students who are in the early stages of their college searches,” said Shawn Brown, Hiram’s director of college relations. “We think we got it right, and we’re encouraged that the piece is so highly regarded by our peers in the field.”
Hiram’s rising-student direct mail piece was the result of a collaboration among the communications and marketing staff and admission staff at the College. James Barrett, associate vice president for new student enrollment, and Rebecca Slattery, art director, served as the project leads.
Admissions Marketing Report has been for 25 years the nation’s leading marketing publication for higher education. The monthly publication is read each month by thousands of admissions marketers at colleges and universities throughout the country.
Recently the publication was renamed Higher Education Marketing Report to more appropriately reflect the expanding role of marketers at colleges and universities.
